Q: What is the hourly fee?

You can pay by credit card via the Client Portal you will have access to once we confirm an appointment. I also accept cash or check at the time of service.

Q: Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance, although I can offer you a Superbill for you to turn into your insurance company if they reimburse for Out-of-Network benefits. You can call your insurance company ahead of time and ask their policy.

Q: Are there other things I should know about your office?

My office is in a building with several other professions such as financial planners, lawyers and architects. Our businesses are separate, and we are not linked in any way. Your privacy is very important to me; therefore, your information is confidential, and I will never discuss you or your case with anyone in the building. We may provide referrals from time to time at the client’s request, but otherwise there is no exchange of information.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

I have reserved the time of our session for you, and I would greatly appreciate at least 24-hour notice in advance if you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment. If you cancel with the 24-hour period, you will be charged the full session fee. With that said, I know that life happens, and some things are unpredictable. I will do my best to work with you!

Q: Who are your typical clients?

I work with adults between the ages of 30-65. I specialize in working with women, but I also see men when we feel it is a good fit.

Q: Are you LGBTQIA friendly? Do you work with people from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and religions?

I believe if the approach, methods and techniques I offer are a good fit for someone, I am honored to be the one to help them through challenges in this time of their lives.

Q: What is your approach to therapy?

I use a variety of methods and strategies with clients depending on the person – Mindfulness meditation, visualization, breath work, Emotional Freedom Technique, and various approaches to talk therapy. Everyone has unique needs and goals for therapy, so my approach can look different for each client. We are in a partnership on your journey, and we are equally committed and responsible for showing up each session with the goal of being open, honest and compassionate along the way.

Q: How long will I be in therapy?

As the therapist, I will make recommendations, but the amount of sessions or length of time someone is in therapy is ultimately up to that person. It really depends on the person coming in for therapy – the areas of their life where they want to create change, their commitment to the work in-between sessions, and how often they come in for sessions.

I will always ask a new client to commit to sessions for the first four consecutive weeks, so we can start to build rapport and trust which is essential for any effective therapeutic relationship.

Q: Do I have to tell you everything?

You get to tell me whatever you feel is important to share. With that said, I will ask you questions and encourage you to share thoughts, feelings and experiences that maybe no one else has ever asked you before which may create some discomfort. This is where some people tend to shut down, become irritated or maybe even stop coming in for sessions.

What I would like you to know is that discomfort can be a good thing! It means you are exploring areas that you have been ignoring or suppressing, and this is where the transformation happens. Change does not happen in our comfort zone, so we must challenge ourselves sometimes, which I believe is what you are looking for when coming to therapy.

Q: Do you offer video or phone sessions?

Yes! I am licensed to practice in both Washington and Oregon and, therefore, can offer Tele-sessions for clients in both states. If you are in another state and would like to work with me, I offer transformational coaching packages that can also be provided over the phone of through video.

Q: How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?

I always offer a free 20-minute phone consultation prior to a paid session. We will talk about what you want from therapy, what kind of therapist you are looking for, and you will learn a bit about my approach and what I offer. At that time, we can decide if we are a good fit to work together.

Q: What is therapy vs. coaching?

Although therapy and coaching approaches have some overlap, they are distinctly different. Generally, coaching helps clients in their present state to take specific, measurable steps toward their goals.

Therapy helps clients address symptoms and resolve issues that are causing emotional pain and turmoil and impairing their ability to function in day-to-day life. Therapists look to clients’ past to help them find answers and gain understanding so that clients can feel more integrated and ready to move forward.

Q: Is our work confidential?

Yes. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, confidentiality is a core value. The privacy of your information is of utmost importance to me, and what you share in our sessions will be kept confidential.

With that said, there are a few exceptions to consider, such as consulting cases with a clinical supervisor, if it is determined that you are at risk of or are in action of harming yourself or others, or if your records are subpoenaed by the court system. You can also request your records be sent to other medical providers if needed.
